Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of Gesture Synth Weld (gesture-synth-weld.net), a free browser-based gesture synthesizer. By using the site you accept these terms. They are short on purpose — the instrument is free, collects no accounts, and asks very little of you.
1. The service
Gesture Synth Weld provides a web instrument that turns hand movement or pointer motion into synthesized music, plus informational pages about how it works. The service is free of charge, requires no registration, and is offered for personal, educational, and creative use.
2. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- attempt to disrupt, probe, or overload the site or its hosting infrastructure;
- misrepresent the instrument as your own product or rebrand it for redistribution without permission;
- use the site in any way that violates applicable law in your jurisdiction.
Normal use — playing, recording yourself playing, sharing those recordings, linking to the site, and writing about it — is not just allowed but welcome.
3. Your recordings
Audio you create with the instrument and capture via the Record feature is yours. Recordings are generated and stored on your own device; we claim no ownership or license over them. You may share, publish, or perform them, including commercially. Note that recordings never pass through our servers, so we cannot recover a take you deleted.
4. Camera and device permissions
Camera mode requires you to grant your browser's camera permission. Hand tracking runs locally on your device as described in the privacy policy. You are responsible for your physical surroundings while gesturing — leave yourself room and mind nearby objects, screens, and people.
5. Intellectual property
The site's design, text, code, and brand assets are the property of Gesture Synth Weld. The underlying browser technologies (Web Audio API, MediaPipe, MediaRecorder) belong to their respective authors and are used under their licenses. "Gesture Synth Weld" and the GSW–01 panel design may not be used to imply endorsement without written permission.
6. Third-party services
The page loads fonts, the hand-tracking runtime, and the tracking model from third-party CDNs, and may later display ads served by Google. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, which we do not control.
7. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the instrument will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every device and browser, or that hand tracking will perform equally well in all lighting conditions and on all hardware.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Gesture Synth Weld and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the site — including lost recordings, lost time, or device issues. Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction is to stop using the service.
9. Availability and changes
We may add, change, or remove features (including voices, scales, and recording limits) at any time, and we do not guarantee the site will remain available forever. Changes to these terms will be posted on this page with an updated date; continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.
